I’ve read many articles on mediation, however, I didn’t really understand what the big thing about it really was. Most of the time I’ve been in search of power instead of peace and thinking my whole life there was only one way to achieve this power: By having lots of money!

You are probably familiar with the theory that humans do not use their brains to the fullest potential, right? So how come no one ever asks why this is so? And why is there no discussion accompanying this theory how our brainpower can be increased?

The key to unlocking certain parts of the brain is meditation. These are the areas that help you more closely connect with the world around you and with becoming more creative, imaginative and intuitive. It has been said that Albert Einstein, who is widely considered to have one of the greatest minds ever, struggled during his early years in school. That was because he was a right-brained think more than a left-brained one. No one ever taught Einstein his revelations and theories. He gained these epiphanies and insights all on his own, through drawing on his subconscious mind as he was meditating.

Our brain has two hemispheres responsible for different things and modes of thinking. The right brain for big picture, holistic, imaginative, integrating and intuitive thinking. The left brain for rational, logical and detailed thinking. At some point Einstein said, that imagination was more important than knowledge is. If you believe knowledge is power (I certainly do), just think how powerful that right side of your brain (the home to your imagination) truly is!

Since we were in school, we’ve constantly be taught to memorize things we have never needed to use out in the real world. Around 95% of what we were deliberately bombarded with was left-brained activities. This school work left dormant and suppressed our right brain on purpose. With only one creative art class in our schedules every other week, we started to lower our consciousness (ability for seeing the bigger picture and our creativity) and began to disconnect from our intuition with even realizing it.

The brain, like a muscle, needs to be used to make it stronger. If only one side of the brain is exercised, then only that one side will get stronger and thus the other side will grow weaker.

Why is all of this important, Eitel?

Because most of our power resides on the right side of the brain. That’s where the powerful subconscious mind is located.

The subconscious mind is where all infinite wisdom and knowledge resides. It’s the area of the mind that provides you with power and dominion over the physical world and your physical body. I’m sure you have heard of mind over matter.

After I discovered one of the greatest truths in the world, that our external world (for example, your girlfriend, close friends, career, etc) is a mere reflection of what our inner world is (emotions, thoughts, feelings), I stopped chasing after girls, money and other things that were outside of myself.

Instead, I started to focus on me … my most valuable asset.

I began on the much needed inner work necessary for enlightenment and started to meditate a couple of days ago. Just for a couple of minutes. Looking back, I was soon able to calm my thoughts down and replace them with ones that were better, control my emotions more often, and heal my internal wounds that I had developed from allowing life to beat me up and not fighting back. It’s still a work-in-progress, but I really feel how it improved my well-being over the last days.

I truly hope, that once my mind becomes wealthy and my thoughts healthy – I will, too!

Meditating for just 5 to 10 minutes a day strengthens the right side of your brain, enhances your creativity, decreases your stress, improves your health, provides increased access to your subconscious mind and activates your dormant psychic abilities.

That’s the part of your mind that is 90% of who you are, and how you behave, believe and think.

To meditate, you don’t need to be a Buddhist Monk. It is very easy to do, just begin by sitting for five minutes a day in silence. Slowly increase your time by five minutes until you are able to sit in silence for twenty to thirty minutes without feeling like you are going to jump out of your skin.

I truly believe, that once most of us become aware of these truths and start to learn how to quiet the the mind consciously and tap into this mysterious energy field, the world around you will be a better place.
